YAKboard - YAKIMA Community Forum

Introduction - 2006/10/04 23:41 Ok, so that's not a very attention grabbing subject line, but I would like to introduce myself! My name is Naomi. I am one of the "founding members", so to speak, of this website and forum. I am, in fact, a member of the administration. That means I get to help approve posts, add new categories, and so on. I'm not a bad guy. I'm your friend!

This forum is a work in progress. Please, if you have any ideas or suggestions, please email me: naomi@everythingyakima.com. We are still working out the format of this board, and we know we are missing some categories that may be important to YOU! Fill us in.

So, a little more about me. I grew up in Tieton, the Nile, and Gleed. Yakima, basically. I have a deep love for the orchards, the rivers, and the rippling hills of our valley. In 1998, I went to college in West Virginia, for a degree in Equine Careers and Industry Managenement. I met Alan, who would become my husband. He lived in Texas, so to Texas we went. But, after two short years, I couldn't stand it any longer and insisted that we move back to WA. We looked all over the state and eventually settled on Bellingham, mostly due to job considerations. So, that is where we are now. But I still consider myself a native of Yakima.

I love this peculiar valley that to others looks dry and barren. I believe it to be a place worthy of my time and attention. My family is still here, so I visit often. I especially love the harvest season, with the aroma of apples and fresh pressed cider. Mmmmm. I love the fact that we have four distinct seasons; that it gets so warm in the summer, and cold in the winter. I am developing a new love for our fantastic wine country!! There are so many great things about Yakima.

I invite you to jump into this forum and share what you love about the Yakima Valley. It really doesn't matter whether we live here full time, or only visit on weekends. What matters is that we appreciate Yakima and want to see it prosper. Jump on in and share your story!

Naomi
