ARTHRITIS FOUNDATION FUNDRAISER in May - 2007/03/24 12:33
PLEASE READ THE LETTER BELOW FROM THE N.W. CHAPTER. May is National Arthritis Month. Gibbsscentsation in partnership with the N.W. chapter of the Arthritis Foundation will be having a city wide fundraiser the entire month of May. You will be hearing a lot about the "Light a Candle of Hope for Arthritis" fundraiser in the next few weeks. Please lend your support by buying a candle or candles. Below is a letter from Scott Weaver from the N.W. chapter. (Scotts written signature did not copy and paste since it was a secure signature, but feel free to call if you are in question.) We will be selling 16oz. jar Mia Bella Gourmet Soy Candles for this fundraising event. Please PM me here if you would like to support this worthy cause and I will give you our phone number. We can begin to take orders now, all orders must be paid for upfront, since with the response we expect there is no way we could front the initial cost. You will be given a receipt and notified when the candles come in.
The candles come in 104 delicious scents. These are very enviromentally friendly candles. Contain no paraffin which often puts out soot, black smoke and toxins. They burn cooler so they burn longer and cleaner. If spilled they can be cleaned up with warm soap and water. People who are allergy sufferers and can't burn normal candles have been able to use them. All are triple scented, double cotton wicked for even burning.

Mrs. Pat Gibbs

Dear Pat,
The Arthritis Foundation, Pacific Northwest Chapter is proud to be partnering with you and your company, Gibbs Scent-Sations, Inc. on Light a Candle of Hope for Arthritis and Fibromyalgia. It is my understanding that during the month of May – National Arthritis Month – Gibbs Scent-Sations with the help of community volunteers will be selling candles throughout Yakima. Upon the conclusion of the Light a Candle of Hope for Arthritis and Fibromyalgia promotion, Gibbs Scent-Sations will donate a portion of the proceeds from each candle sold to the Arthritis Foundation to support research and programs offered by the Pacific Northwest Chapter.
In most situations being #1 is a reason to celebrate. However, when it comes to arthritis – the #1 cause of disability in the nation – many aren’t celebrating. An estimated 46 million Americans, 1 in 5 adults, have been told by a doctor that they have some form of arthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, gout, lupus, or fibromyalgia. By 2030, an estimated 67 million Americans aged 18 years or older will have doctor-diagnosed arthritis. Arthritis affects people of all ages, races and socioeconomic backgrounds. In Washington alone, over 1.2 million people live with arthritis and fibromyalgia, and face the daily challenges of limited mobility, diminishing independence and economic burdens.
The support of Gibbs Scent-Sations, Inc. will not only help the Arthritis Foundation financially, but will help raise awareness in the Yakima Valley that the Pacific Northwest Chapter of the Arthritis Foundation exists to serve those whose lives have been affected by arthritis. Services and programs offered by the Arthritis Foundation include:
Number one ranked comprehensive arthritis web site, www.arthritis.org Toll free information helpline (800-568-4054) Nearly 100 consumer educational brochures, booklets and books Arthritis Today, the Arthritis Foundation’s bi-monthly consumer magazine Water and land-based exercise classes, self-help courses and support groups (There are two warm water aquatics programs in Yakima – 16th Avenue Station & Yakima Athletic Club.) Development and management of physician referral lists Extensive funding for research in rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, fibromyalgia and other forms of arthritis KAT Program (Kids And Teens Get Arthritis Too), including a weekend summer camp for children with arthritis and their families Federal and state advocacy efforts to ensure rights and access to care for all people with arthritis On behalf of the millions of people that the Arthritis Foundation is committed to serve, I want to thank you and Gibbs Scent-Sations, Inc. for offering the Light a Candle of Hope for Arthritis and Fibromyalgia promotion, and for truly making a difference for those who live with the daily pain of arthritis and fibromyalgia.
Sincerely,
Scott Weaver
Vice President, Development & Programs
