What can anyone find out about you online? - 2006/10/07 16:25 I received this information a short time ago. I checked their database and there is way too much information available. I would highly suggest that you request that your name be removed from the list.

This is unbelievable!!!
Beginning JULY '06 a new database is available to the
general public free of charge that displays your personal information
(names, addresses, phone numbers, birth dates). (Soc. Sec.
is available for a price.) The database is found at
http://www.zabasearch.com type in your name and check ... you'll be
SHOCKED as I was!

I urge you to forward this email to family and friends. Check to see if
your name and information is in their database. If so and you want it
removed, send them an e-mail at info@zabasearch.com to request it be
removed. I do not know how our names are appearing there, but I checked
my own and a few other random ones and they are all in this database!

After opting out by email, check back after a few days to make certain
your information has been removed. If it has not been removed then file
a complaint with your State's Attorney General.

Re:What can anyone find out about you online? - 2006/10/09 13:17 Before you get too concerned, check out Snope's page on this topic:

It appears that it is mostly true, but perhaps not as a big a threat as it may seem.

In this day and age we do have to be very careful what information we put out there, though! One thing I've noticed people doing on myspace and in emailed surveys is giving information like their street name, maiden name, middle name, or even mother's maiden name. These are bits and pieces of info that may seem harmless by themselves, but could, if put together, allow someone to pinpoint your location or steal your identity.
